About Me

I am ceramic artist and
graphic designer living in Hampshire.

Ashley James

My ceramic work is influenced by an interest in the natural world, a love of farm life and the surrounding countryside. I strive to capture something quirky and unique in each piece I create, and I hope my work captures my personality. It’s important to me that each piece tells its own narrative. Working in stoneware I use oxides, underglaze stains and polymers on the clay surface, with galvanised steel wire for a contemporary feel.

My work has been exhibited at Southampton Art Gallery, St Barbe Museum & Art Gallery, Mottisfont, (National Trust), Sherfield School and at The Grange, Northington (English Heritage).

2020 Events:

I'm a creative and flexible graphic designer with over 25 years of experience helping local authorities, companies and charities to promote themselves effectively. My expertise includes all aspects of design from flyers, leaflets, logos, large scale graphics, car livery and digital illustration. Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop), I also offer strong cartographic expertise following four years with the Ordnance Survey. I have good organisational skills for multi-tasking on projects, meeting budgets and deadlines.
