In September 2016, I was invited to see the head of St James C of E Primary School. They asked me if I would create a design for a fibre glass sheep, an initiative from the Diocese of Winchester, that reflected the school ethos and name. I went away and came back with an abstract design using a shell used in their school logo, and was something St James took on his crusades.
'Mr James designed the graphic art for our fibre glass sheep donated by the diocese of Winchester. Liaising collaboratively with myself, he led a small group of children to copy and paint his digital art design onto the sheep. Creatively the graphic art Mr James designed for our school captured the shell of Saint James and this had great meaning to our school. He shared his expertise, artistic skills and taught the children how to perfect their painting using different brush and colour mixing techniques.
Mr James always had a lovely manner with the children, was excellent at facilitating their learning and to incorporate the children’s ideas in his work. He was extremely reliable, had very good interpersonal skills and always kept to tight time scales. Throughout the project, Mr James was excellent at setting high expectations of children’s art skills and behaviour and ensured the end product was of high quality.
I would happily work with Mr James on other projects in the future. I consider him to be a valuable member of the team, who consistently achieved brilliant results and delivered all expectations.' Sarah Williams, Art Leader
